Sakanagi Guesthouse is a small guesthouse near Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City.
The building is over 120 years old and was once a fish shop.
It supported daily life in the temple town.
Today, it keeps its old charm and quietly welcomes travelers.
Although it is close to a busy tourist area, inside you can relax and feel at ease.
We hope you take a break here and enjoy a more local side of Nagano.

At Sakanagi Guesthouse, there is no fixed way to spend your time. You can visit Zenkoji Temple early in the morning, or take a relaxed walk around the temple town. Instead of making a busy schedule, we recommend enjoying your stay at your own pace.

Nagano City is a great place to start your journey, where historic temples meet wide-open nature. In the city center, you’ll find Zenkoji Temple, a National Treasure, which has long welcomed travelers as the heart of the temple town.
From Nagano City, it’s easy to head out on day trips. You can visit Togakushi Shrine at the foot of Mt. Togakushi, see the famous snow monkeys relaxing in hot springs at Jigokudani Monkey Park, or explore the Hakuba area in the Northern Alps. With so many well-known spots close by, Nagano City makes a relaxed and convenient base for exploring the region.
